The Insurance Council of Louisiana

Louisianans need insurance, and insurers need a steady insurance climate to provide the best rates. For years, the Bayou State has faced an insurance crisis, with companies leaving the state due to ever-increasing rates. We formed to help present solutions to this problem so that Louisiana can once again be a haven for businesses & insurers.

“This group is on the front lines trying to forge a better, more affordable Louisiana for insurers, businesses & residents."

Rodney Braxton, Executive Director

Focusing on the ISSUES

A variety of issues play a role in the insurance climate of Louisiana. We're working everyday to address the roots and bring back competition and better rates for consumers & businesses.

Commercial trucking

Commercial trucking is one of the most critical  industries in Louisiana. Numerous residents and companies rely these trucks day-in and day-out, yet these trucking companies are being forced out due to the high commercial trucking insurance cost in our state. A solution is needed.

Legal reform

In Louisiana, legal reform is necessary to address multiple facets of the insurance crisis. Until the state has widespread reforms in this area, the factors contributing to high rates will persist.

Reinsurance

Due to high lawsuit rates and an uncertain market, reinsurance is necessary in Louisiana. These factors can repel insurers from writing in Louisiana due to the volatile costs. Insurers want certainty, and Louisiana's current situation doesn't afford it.
